CHICAGO, IL – A series of violent incidents rocked Chicago this weekend, resulting in two fatalities and multiple injuries. Victims’ ages span from 12 to 53 years.
The violence began on Friday night when a 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg on West 18th Street. He was later taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition. Shortly thereafter, a 14-year-old boy suffered a critical abdominal wound after being shot by a gunman from a black Jeep in East 65th Street.
Later on the same night, a 24-year-old man was found with severe gunshot wounds to his head and body on South Cornell Avenue. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. Around 11:35 p.m., a 40-year-old man was fatally shot in North Lamon Avenue during a basement altercation. The suspect was arrested at the scene, where police also recovered a weapon.
Additional shootings occurred early Saturday. A 12-year-old boy was shot in the leg on South Calumet Avenue and was reported in good condition. Another incident on West Madison Street around 4:02 a.m. left one man dead and another injured after an altercation led to gunfire between the parties and an unknown assailant.
