Mario Mason Obituary, Death; – A detainee at the Oklahoma County Detention Center passed away after being taken to a hospital on Monday evening. Jail officials reported that a detention officer found the unresponsive inmate in his cell around 5:37 p.m.
Emergency life-saving procedures were initiated prior to his transport by EMSA to the hospital. He was declared dead at the hospital at 6:46 p.m. The deceased was identified as Mario Mason, aged 26, who had been in custody since May 23, 2024. He received a life sentence for first-degree murder on April 24, 2025, and was awaiting transfer to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. The circumstances of his death are currently under investigation, with all fatalities at the jail being treated as homicides until the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office reaches a conclusion.
