Woman Arrested After Shooting Incident Involving Baby in Philadelphia
Philadelphia, PA – A Pennsylvania woman is in custody after allegedly shooting at a mother, father, and their 7-month-old child, injuring the infant. Philadelphia police have charged Dominique Billips, 28, with aggravated assault.
The incident, captured on surveillance video and released by police, shows Billips approaching the family and firing two shots. The father is seen running away, leaving the mother and baby behind. Billips then fires another shot at the mother and baby at close range, striking the infant in the leg.
Philadelphia police Lt. Dennis Rosenbaum stated in an interview with WCAU that it took an hour to locate the parents, who had fled due to fear of arrest on outstanding warrants. Rosenbaum indicated that the incident stemmed from a $100 narcotics debt.
The video captures the mother screaming for her baby, to which Billips allegedly responded with an expletive before walking away.
Billips was apprehended after the surveillance footage was publicized on YouTube, aiding in her identification and arrest.
