Washington, D.C. – A group of girls accused of fatally beating 64-year-old Reggie Brown took selfies after recording the attack, according to prosecutors. This information emerged during a hearing.
The hearing was disrupted when one of the recently arrested girls punched a deputy U.S. Marshal and was removed on a stretcher.
Authorities have not yet identified or arrested an adult male seen in the video initiating the attack on Brown.
On October 17, 2023, officers responded at approximately 12:54 p.m. to the 6200 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest, where they found Brown suffering from blunt force trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Between March 28 and 29, police arrested two 13-year-old girls and a 12-year-old for second-degree murder. The 12-year-old had sustained a gunshot wound in the leg just hours before her arrest.
Detective Harry Singleton testified in court on March 29, stating there was no indication that Brown knew the girls. Brown, who was physically handicapped and missed fingers on both hands, was escorted across Georgia Avenue by a man wearing a blue coat prior to the attack.
