LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Griffin Pond Animal Shelter in Lackawanna County released a statement that they safely rescued over 100 animals from an extreme hoarding situation.
In the statement the statement they said that this one of the most heartbreaking situations that the have ever faced, and there remains more animals that are stuck in those conditions.
Members of their staff have battled bad conditions including levels of ammonia so high that it required them to enter the home in protective gear.
Griffin Pond has said their staff has been working around the clock getting animals out of the home, setting traps, purchasing emergency equipment, and doing intakes of all the animals, making sure everyone gets the necessary care they need.
The animal shelter is asking donations for equipment, care, and supplies.
