DOVER, DE – Jesus Torres, a 34-year-old Dover resident, was arrested on multiple charges including drug offenses and resisting arrest, following a pursuit near Seaford. The arrest, conducted by the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, took place on July 16, 2024.
The incident began at approximately 3:47 p.m. when a detective observed Torres failing to use his turn signal while driving an Acura MDX on German Road from Concord Pond Road. A subsequent search of the Acura revealed approximately 21.95 grams of powder cocaine and $932 in cash, suspected to be drug-dealing proceeds.
Torres was transported to Troop 5, where he was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (Tier 3 felony), resisting arrest with force or violence (felony), disregarding a police officer’s signal (felony), offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to signal. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $23,501 cash bond.
