Fatal Memphis car crash death of Nai’lani Shunee D’cole Carnegie – Obituary
An 8-month-old baby, Nai’lani Shunee D’cole Carnegie, lost her life following a tragic accident on Interstate 40 west near Appling and Whitten roads last week.
According to her father, Nai’lani was his firstborn and brought immense joy to their family. He shared that she loved gospel music and would often lift her hands with a smile. Describing her as “picture perfect,” he recalled how she was always dressed up whenever they left the house.
The crash occurred while Nai’lani was traveling with her mother and another family member as they made their way from California to Arkansas for a funeral. Memphis Police reported that their vehicle was involved in a three-car collision on I-40.
Emergency responders transported Nai’lani to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in critical condition, but despite medical efforts, she did not survive.
Her father expressed the deep pain of her absence, describing how the silence in their home had become unbearable. He shared that Nai’lani had been a source of encouragement for his mother each morning and that her absence has left an indescribable void.
The family is currently seeking support to cover funeral and transportation expenses to bring Nai’lani back to California for burial. A GoFundMe page has been set up for donations.
