BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore woman, nicknamed “Shawn,” won $240,000 in the Maryland Lottery Keno on Monday. The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased the lucky ticket at Gani’s Wine and Spirits on July 15.
Shawn, a dedicated Keno player for six years, previously won $60,000 in 2021. Her latest win came when she decided to play Keno on a whim while picking up party favors.
“I was just stopping by to pick up some party favors and decided to play Keno on a whim,” Shawn said. “I didn’t think much of it at the time. The next day, when I checked my ticket on the Lottery’s app, I was stunned to see that I had won $240,000.”
Overwhelmed by the life-changing news, Shawn broke down in tears upon discovering her win. She only shared the exciting news with her mother and boyfriend, with plans to help her mother retire with the winnings.
Gani’s Wine and Spirits at 601 North Carey Street will receive a $2,400 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
