With heavy hearts and unimaginable grief, the Osundwa family and the community of League City, Texas, are mourning the heartbreaking loss of 17-year-old Zain Jaxson Osundwa, a beloved son, friend, student, and shining light in the lives of all who knew him.

Zain passed away on May 1, 2025, and the void left in his absence is one that words can scarcely begin to express. Zain was a junior at Clear Springs High School, where he was known not only for his intelligence and academic drive but for his infectious personality, sense of humor, and deep kindness.

Friends, teachers, and classmates describe him as a young man full of light—someone who made others feel seen, valued, and loved. He had the rare ability to brighten any room he walked into and bring joy to those around him even on their hardest days.

In a moving tribute shared by his grieving family, Zain’s parents wrote, “Not the kind of post I thought I would ever be posting. A piece of our hearts is gone, and nothing will ever fill that void. Our precious baby boy Zain Jaxson passed away on May 1st.

He was our life and the love of our lives for 17 years. The love, light, honesty, joy and humor will be intensively missed. Our lives, and life will never be the same without him. Please keep our family in your prayers. We love you so so much, baby boy.”

This statement encapsulates what so many are feeling—a devastating sense of loss and disbelief that someone so young, vibrant, and full of promise could be gone so soon.

As the Osundwa family navigates this unimaginable grief, they are being surrounded by an outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the League City community and beyond.

Zain’s friends remember him as someone who stood up for others, who offered a listening ear and never hesitated to crack a joke to lighten the mood. He had a gift for connecting with people and forming friendships that were genuine and lasting.

Whether it was in the classroom, on the field, or in casual hangouts, Zain was often at the center of laughter and camaraderie. Teachers at Clear Springs High School also mourn the loss of a student who left a lasting impression with his character and energy.

“Zain was a joy to teach,” one teacher wrote. “He asked thoughtful questions, showed kindness to his classmates, and brought a spark to every lesson. His absence is deeply felt.”

Zain’s interests and talents extended far beyond academics. He was curious about the world and driven to make a difference in it. He dreamed big and encouraged those around him to do the same.

He loved music, sports, and spending time with friends and family. His sense of humor was one of his defining traits—he knew how to lift spirits and make people laugh, even during challenging moments.

More than anything, Zain was deeply loved. To his family, he was their whole world—their source of daily joy, hope, and pride. To his friends, he was a loyal companion and a source of inspiration. To his teachers and mentors, he was a bright light with a future full of promise.

The Osundwa family has expressed deep gratitude for the kind words, condolences, and support they’ve received in the wake of their loss. They have stated that more information about a service to honor Zain’s life will be shared soon.

In the days ahead, the community will come together to honor and remember Zain Jaxson Osundwa—a young man who lived with joy, loved with his whole heart, and made a lasting impact in his short 17 years. Though his time here was far too brief, the memory of Zain will live on in every heart he touched.
