Braydon Parker McAlister Obituary — The Hickory Tavern community is mourning the tragic and untimely loss of 20-year-old Braydon Parker McAlister, who was killed in a car accident late Wednesday night, April 30, 2025.
The fatal crash occurred on Whelon Road near Cherry Hill Road in Laurens County, South Carolina, just off Highway 14.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident happened at approximately 11:14 p.m. Braydon was driving a 2002 Buick sedan eastbound when the vehicle veered off the right side of the road, struck a ditch, and overturned several times. Emergency personnel responded swiftly, but Braydon was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Laurens County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as Braydon Parker McAlister, a lifelong resident of Hickory Tavern. The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
Braydon was a bright and spirited young man known for his infectious smile, kind heart, and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. A 2023 graduate of Laurens District 55 High School, he was admired for his work ethic, passion for cars, and adventurous soul. Those who knew him best describe him as someone who would do anything for the people he loved — a loyal friend, a devoted son, and a young man with dreams as big as his heart.
Braydon had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, often found riding four-wheelers, working on vehicles, or spending weekends fishing along local lakes with his friends. He had recently begun charting a path toward a career in automotive repair and was excited about what the future held. His ability to light up a room with his energy and humor will be dearly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
