MINNEAPOLIS — April 30, 2025 — A man was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon on Minneapolis’s Southside, marking the city’s second deadly shooting in under 24 hours and intensifying concerns over escalating violence in the area.
Police were called to the 2100 block of South Cedar Avenue just after 2 p.m., near the Red Lake apartment complex and adjacent to the Minneapolis American Indian Center. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. He has since been identified as Tc Pipeboy.
Preliminary details from an unencrypted police radio broadcast indicate that a light blue-hooded individual was seen fleeing the area in an older-model silver Chevrolet Impala, which may be missing its rear bumper. The vehicle was reportedly occupied by at least two other young males.
As the investigation unfolded, a somber crowd gathered in the lobby of the Red Lake apartment building, where neighbors and community members expressed grief and frustration over the recurring violence in their neighborhood.
This fatal shooting comes just hours after a separate mass shooting late Tuesday night in the Phillips neighborhood — near 25th Street and Bloomington Avenue — left three people dead and two others critically injured. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara addressed that incident during a press conference Wednesday, stating that the attack appeared to be targeted and may be gang-related.
While both shootings occurred within proximity and timeframe, authorities have not confirmed any link between the two events.
No arrests have been announced in either case as of Wednesday evening.
Minneapolis police continue to investigate both shootings and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Minnesota at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at crimestoppersmn.org.
