21-Year-Old Kaizen Amere Simmons Killed in Killeen Shooting; Homicide Investigation Underway
Killeen, TX – April 29, 2025 — Kaizen Amere Simmons, a 21-year-old Killeen resident, tragically lost his life in a shooting that took place early Tuesday morning on April 29, 2025, on Morning Star Lane. The Killeen Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding this deadly incident.
At approximately 1:26 a.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to a call reporting a shooting on the 5000 block of Morning Star Lane. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found Simmons, who had sustained a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel quickly arrived on the scene and began performing life-saving efforts before transporting him in critical condition to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Simmons succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Justice of the Peace Nicola James confirmed Simmons’ death and has ordered an autopsy to be conducted at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
According to early findings from the investigation, it is believed that the shooting occurred while the suspect, who was reportedly inside a vehicle, was meeting someone on the street. The exact details and motive behind the shooting remain unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
