The annual Great Steamboat Race is one week away.
The Belle of Louisville will race head-to-head along the Ohio River against the Belle of Cincinnati once again this year.
This year’s winning cocktail is the Derby Sunrise, made with grenadine, lemonade, bourbon and cherries, and garnished with an orange slice.
The Belle of Louisville is hoping to reclaim the coveted Silver Antlers from the Belle of Cincinnati, which won last year.
Kentucky Derby Festival President Matt Gibson said the rivalry between the two boats is one of the event’s highlights.
“It is so funny to watch them go back and forth and they love it,” Gibson said. “The energy that it brings really does, and you can feel it next Wednesday when we’re down here. You’ll feel that energy and that’s what it’s all about.”
The Great Steamboat Race is set for Wednesday, April 30, at 6 p.m.
