One person is dead and another injured after a Chevy SUV crashed into the Peninsula hotel in the Streeterville neighborhood early Saturday morning, according to Chicago police.
A man, whose age and identity is currently unknown, and a 40-year-old man in the SUV traveling eastbound on Superior Street lost control and struck the building in the 100 block of East Superior Street around 2:42 a.m., police said.
The 40-year-old man was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The other man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police said they are investigating the cause of the crash.
