Heather Brent Calgary Obituary, Death:- Heather Brent, a 57-year-old resident of Calgary, was tragically identified as the victim of a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on Tuesday evening on Stoney Trail N.W.
According to court documents, Brent was driving a white Toyota Corolla southbound when it was struck by an unknown vehicle, believed to be a semi-truck with a trailer, which fled the scene.
The incident happened around 11:50 p.m. near the bridge deck of Nose Hill Drive. Two road maintenance workers, who were traveling in a nearby truck, were the first to respond to the scene and provided critical medical aid to Brent.
Unfortunately, before emergency services could arrive, a black Dodge Ram, driven by a 21-year-old male with a female passenger, crashed into a barrier in the median and collided with Brent, and then struck the road maintenance truck. Despite the efforts of the responders, Brent was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Heather Brent is being remembered by her loved ones as a compassionate and loving individual who dedicated her life to caring for others. Her obituary describes her as the “uniting bond” that held her family close, and her infectious laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Brent was a registered nurse, having earned her degree from Mount Royal University, and spent her career caring for the elderly in long-term care facilities in Didsbury and Hanna. The investigation into the accident led police to a semi-truck in Rocky View County, which was identified as the vehicle that left the scene of the collision.
As a result, Gaganpreet Singh, a 25-year-old from Saskatoon, has been charged with hit-and-run and hit-and-run causing death. Singh appeared virtually in the Court of King’s Bench on Friday, represented by his lawyer, and his case has been adjourned until April 8.
