The Hill End Football Netball Club is heartbroken to share the passing of Bryan Macdermid—a supporter, devoted family man, and one of our most generous long-time sponsors. Bryan, alongside his family and their company, Mang Rail Pty Ltd, stood by the club during some of its toughest years in the early to mid-2000s. His unwavering support helped shape the club we know today, and his legacy will forever be a part of Hill End’s story.
Bryan passed away peacefully in the early hours of Friday, March 28, after a short but brave battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. A proud Hill End local for many years, he and his wife, Michelle, raised their three children—Breahna, Braedon, and Brodie—who all grew up playing for the club. In recent years, Bryan and Michelle enjoyed their well-earned retirement in Glenelg, South Australia, though his heart always remained close to the Hill End community.
Those who knew Bryan will remember him for his iconic handlebar moustache, his love for hot rods, and, above all, his deep devotion to his family. He treasured every moment spent with Michelle, their children, and grandchildren, and his kindness extended far beyond his own home. His generosity, both to the club and the wider community, touched countless lives.
The Hill End FNC extends its deepest sympathies to Michelle, Breahna, Braedon, Brodie, and the entire Macdermid family during this unimaginably difficult time. Our thoughts are also with their many friends, teammates, and all who had the privilege of knowing Bryan.
His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit lives on in the club he loved and the people he inspired.
Rest in peace, Bryan. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
