Fatal Burlington stabbing death of Derius Lashaun Moore – Obituary
Derius Lashaun Moore, a 33-year-old man from Chicago, was fatally stabbed in Burlington on Saturday, March 1.
Officers from the Burlington Police Department responded to an apartment in the 300 block of Angular Street just before 5 p.m. after receiving a report of an unresponsive man with a stab wound. Upon arrival, they found Moore suffering from a single stab wound to his upper left back. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Witness statements led police to identify 49-year-old Tisha Renee Bounds as the suspect. According to reports, an argument initially started on the main floor of the apartment before moving upstairs. The confrontation then returned to the first floor, where Bounds allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Moore. Witnesses remained at the scene and prevented Bounds from leaving until authorities arrived.
Bounds later admitted to stabbing Moore and stated that another person inside the residence took the knife from her. She was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder. She is currently being held at the Des Moines County Jail without bond as she awaits her first court appearance.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Burlington Police Department or the Greater Burlington Area Crime Stoppers.
