Fatal Colorado Springs parking lot shooting death of Shahid S. Burke – Obituary
On the morning of March 1, 2025, 24-year-old Sgt. Shahid S. Burke, a member of the 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, was fatally shot in a parking lot along North Academy Boulevard.
The El Paso County Coroner’s office confirmed his identity, and the shooting occurred just after 2:30 a.m. Burke was later transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. A New York City native, Burke had served in the military for over five years.
The loss has deeply affected his unit, with Col. Anthony Keller expressing condolences to his family and team. As of now, no arrests have been made, and police are seeking information regarding the incident.
