HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A local fire department unveiled three new chief fire vehicles.
They were showcased at the southside fire station on Broad Street in Hazleton.
The vehicles are 2024 F-250 pickup trucks, replacing their 2017 models.
The trucks are equipped with all emergency lighting plus roll out trays, SCBA holders, and extinguisher holders.
The vehicles will be used by the department chiefs on duty for all responses, emergency responses, and for everyday fire department business.
“These vehicles are much more beefier. They’re much more heavier, more heavier duty. They’re just equipped to do more operations for us in all types of incidents that we need to respond to. So again, just it’s a true win win for the fire department,” stated Donald Leshko, Hazleton Fire Chief.
The new vehicles were made possible through alsa grant from the state.
The grant covered a cost of $231,000 making sure the vehicles do not cost Hazleton a dime.
