MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A judge rejected a plea deal Tuesday for a man accused of concealing the death of missing Belmont man Andrew Tench.
D’Shaun Robinson appeared in court earlier Tuesday where he faced several charges, including identity theft, burglary, and failing to report a death in connection to Tench’s disappearance.
Investigators said that Robinson admitted to disposing of Tench’s body in a trash bin last year after Tench was reported missing in March 2024.
Court records indicate that Robinson sought to enter a guilty plea for the aforementioned charges, with a potential maximum sentence of nine years in prison.
However, in a surprising move, the judge rejected the plea deal, sending shockwaves through the courtroom and leaving many to wonder what this will mean for the case moving forward.
Queen City News spoke with the victim’s family after the court hearing. Their emotions were raw as they processed the news of the rejected plea. Their words will be shared in a new report at 4 p.m.
