SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Scranton authorities say they arrested two people in connection to an alleged robbery and kidnapping of a juvenile.
In a release, officials say on Friday, February 28, the Scranton Police Detective Divison arrested two people on the 800 block of Pittston Avenue associated with the criminal street gang Popote for the robbery and kidnapping of a rival gang member that happened on Saturday, February 22.
Police explained the accused, 20-year-old Cesar Rodriguez-Hernandez and his 17-year-old juvenile accomplice, did allegedly partake with other armed people to forcibly remove the juvenile victim from an Ash Street car wash to the Skyview Housing complex.
The alleged then removed the victim’s sweatshirt and sneakers and ordered him to run under the threat of being shot, authorities explained.
Police credit the cooperation of the victim’s family members, the businesses cited, and the Scranton School District Administration as being “instrumental in this investigation.”
Their participation is an example of how we can all make our City and our schools safer by engaging with law enforcement to solve crime and ultimately prevent future violence in our City.
