PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 Meteorologist Valerie Smock is getting in on the month of Irish celebrations.
She was a guest speaker on Sunday at the Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick Women’s Luncheon.
Besides a buffet and beverages, the luncheon featured Irish step dancing and live music.
Organizers say they host the luncheon as a way to give back to women who do so much in the community.
“The women, they play a major part of our organization. You know, we, it may seem like it’s mostly the gentlemen who are for the dinner and everything like that, but the women do so much work for us. So it’s good to give back to them,” said Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick President Sean Rooney.
“I think it’s important to know where you come from and, you know, it’s important to be American but it’s also, it’s kind of fun to tap into your original roots that brought you here and respect why they came here,” 2025 Woman of the Year Recipient Erin Burke Weiss explained.
Next up for the Greater Pittston Friendly Sons Of Saint Patrick is their Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Dinner on March 17.
