Martin McFeely Obituary, Death; – A teenager is currently incarcerated and facing charges related to a pursuit that resulted in a fatal accident in the Loris area last year.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol apprehended 17-year-old Christopher Crosby on Wednesday, charging him with reckless homicide and failure to stop for emergency lights. According to SCHP, Crosby was operating a 2008 Mercury sedan that crashed on September 23, 2024, on Daisy Road near Tansy Road. The passenger, 38-year-old Martin McFeely from Loris, lost his life in the incident. Crosby is alleged to have led an officer from the Horry County Police Department on a chase prior to the crash.
A report from HCPD indicates that the officer observed two individuals near the 2008 Mercury sedan, which had its rear door open and hazard lights activated at a stop sign close to Daisy Road. When the officer activated the lights on his patrol vehicle and approached the sedan to offer assistance, the two individuals entered the car and fled the scene, as detailed in the report.
SCHP stated that Crosby veered off the roadway while attempting to evade the officer, causing the vehicle to overturn several times before colliding with a tree. Jail records indicate that Crosby is currently held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center with a bond set at $37,000.
