it is with a great sadness that we announce the death of Agency Owner at All State Insurance and Tuscaloosa Patch founder, Sam Phillips who tragically passed away, His unwavering commitment and service to the community will be appreciated.

His coworker and the community he served are both extremely saddened by this loss. Our Thought and Condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult situation.

Since the news of his death surfaced, many have not hesitated to share their heartfelt condolences with the family of Sam Phillips, also paying tribute to his recently.

As the news of Sam’s passing spreads, Ryan Phillips, the founder of Tuscaloosa Patch, has expressed his profound sorrow over the loss of his beloved friend and shared his sorrow on social.

“Sam Phillips was the closest thing I had to a best friend here. We talked multiple times a day, every day and I’m not sure I had a closer confidante. This was the single-most difficult thing I’ve ever had to write but Sam would haunt me ‘til my dying day and then keep giving me a hard time in the afterlife if I wasn’t the one to tell his story. We’ll never forget you, Sam.”

Sam also called a couple of times just to tell me about how excited he was to coach Asher’s Warrior Baseball little league team. And in one of the countless memories that reduced me to a bawling mess, Sam’s brother Hunter sent me one of the last pictures taken of just Sam and Asher on Dec. 29, 2024, as they walked into the woods to hunt.

Sam was also a pillar of the Northport community despite being in his 30s and, unlike myself, wasn’t a music snob.

For some reason I’ll never understand, he was crazy about the 80s pop rock band Journey, so much so that he generously beckoned me on multiple occasions to saddle up and go with him to one of their many overpriced tour stops. He even offered to pay my way.
