(WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Game Commission confirmed the fox attacking residents earlier this month in Monroe County tested positive for rabies.
On February 19, the Stroud Area Regional Police Department was called to a report of a fox attack on Congdon Avenue.
Following an investigation, officers learned that multiple residents in the surrounding areas, including Hillcrest Drive, Howell Terrace, and Clause Drive, may have encountered the fox.
Lieutenant Aaron Morrow, Regional Supervisor for the Northeast Region of the Pennsylvania Game Commission tells 28/22 News the fox was sent to the Pennsylvania Department of Health for testing.
The PA Game Commission received confirmation on February 20 that the fox tested positive for rabies.
In total, three people were bitten by the fox, stated Lieutenant Morrow.
