Teone Jones Obituary, Death; – A man from Chicago, accused of murdering a woman and assaulting her two sons, is currently facing several charges while he awaits extradition from Indiana back to Illinois.
Marcus Bausley, aged 39, is charged with felony resisting arrest in Indiana, in addition to charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, and kidnapping.
Family members have identified Bausley as the former partner of the victim. Teone Jones, 33, was fatally stabbed multiple times in a residence located in the 7100 block of South Eberhart on the South Side of the city last Thursday. She was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
A prayer vigil took place on Sunday, bringing together family and friends not only for prayer but also to convey a powerful message.
“This is the first instance of domestic violence we have encountered in this community. While we have faced other issues, nothing compares to this. It has left the entire community in shock,” stated Darlene Tribue, president of Park Manor Neighbors. The sequence of tragic events began last Thursday evening in Illinois and concluded in Indiana.
In addition to the deceased woman, two children, identified by family as Jones’ sons, aged 8 and 11, were hospitalized in critical condition following the stabbings. Prior to the attack, the 8-year-old was the subject of an Amber Alert early Friday morning and was located at a gas station on the 8200 block of South Damen.
Shortly thereafter, Bausley crossed into Indiana, where a license plate reader alerted law enforcement to his location. A police pursuit followed, culminating in Bausley’s apprehension by state police. Community leaders and family members are still grappling with the implications of this tragedy.
“It is incredibly heartbreaking and distressing. I often see her children coming in and out of the house. As a mother of school-aged children, I wish someone could have intervened to help her escape this relationship,” remarked Nicole Mitchell, a neighbor of Jones.
On Sunday evening, residents walked through the neighborhood distributing flyers that read, “love shouldn’t hurt.”
