YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– Lawmakers reacted to the shooting at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York County on Saturday morning.
An officer from the West York Borough Police Department was killed after a gunman opened fire at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York County and took staff hostage.
The gunman was killed by police.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro made a statement on X regarding the tragic shooting at UPMC. He is now on the way to the scene.
I’ve been briefed on the tragic shooting at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York County and I am on my way to the scene.
The hospital is now secure and members of the @PAStatePolice and @PEMAHQ are on the ground responding alongside our local and federal partners.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic shooting at UPMC this morning. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and all those affected by this senseless act of violence.
