Izayah Thomas-Reid Obituary, Death; – York City Police have announced the arrest related to the tragic shooting death of 21-year-old Izayah Thomas-Reid, as detailed in a recent news release.
On Friday, law enforcement officials, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Service, apprehended 17-year-old Mijiere Hillian, according to the statement.
Hillian is charged with criminal homicide, second-degree murder, and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, as indicated by online court records.
Izayah Thomas-Reid, a resident of the 100 block of Dew Drop Court in York Township, was fatally shot on February 19, 2025, in the vicinity of the 300 block of North Queen Street, as reported by police and the York County Coroner’s Office.
An autopsy conducted on Friday confirmed that he succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, according to a separate release from the York County Coroner’s Office.
This incident occurred after a notable 104-day period without gun violence in York City, a milestone that had been celebrated by the community following the achievement of 100 days on February 15, 2025. Officials noted that this was the longest stretch without gun violence since a 67-day period in 2017.
