Bradford Brown Alpine Utah Accident; CEO and Founder of ATL Technologies, Bradford Brown Dies in Helicopter Accident near Idaho Falls
A tragic helicopter crash on the ice of Ririe Reservoir near Idaho Falls on Thursday claimed the life of Utah CEO Bradford Brown, 59, of Alpine, Utah. Brown was reportedly on board the aircraft, which was discovered about a mile east of the dam. According to Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies, Brown died at the scene of the crash.
A second passenger, whose identity has not been disclosed, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash, and an investigation is currently underway.
Brown was a well-respected leader in the medical device industry, serving as the CEO and founder of ATL Technology, a Springville, Utah-based company specializing in the manufacturing of medical devices. In addition to his leadership at ATL, Brown was a board member for BioUtah, a non-profit organization that supports the life sciences sector in Utah.
Kelvyn Cullimore, CEO and President of BioUtah, described Brown as a significant figure in the industry, referring to him as a “true captain” of the medical device community.
“He was a humble family man, a true Christian, and passionate about being a pilot, a skill he refined over decades of flying,” Cullimore said. “His loss is devastating to our Utah life sciences community. He served for years in executive leadership of BioUtah, promoting the state’s life sciences industry. Our condolences go out to his wife, Shannon, his family, and the entire team at ATL.”
Following the news of Brown’s passing, ATL Technology issued a heartfelt statement expressing their grief.
“Our close-knit family at ATL is devastated by the tragic loss of our founder,” the company said, noting that Brown’s passing came just weeks before his 60th birthday.
“He was visionary, passionate, and dedicated to ATL, the life sciences industry, and, above all, his family and community,” the statement continued. “It goes without saying he leaves an indelible mark on ATL and the global life sciences industry.”
As a testament to Brown’s lasting impact, ATL Technology has committed to providing mental health resources for employees, many of whom had worked alongside Brown for decades.
Brown’s expertise as a pilot was well-documented. According to his online biography, he had accumulated over 4,200 flight hours, utilizing both airplanes and helicopters. A graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in Medical Engineering, Brown was recognized for his business acumen, innovative contributions to the medical device field, and dedication to advancing Utah’s life sciences industry.
