WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Striking nurses at three Geisinger facilities in Luzerne County are just hours away from ending their strike.
Before that happens, they left the picket line this afternoon fired-up as they boarded two buses at the Wyoming Valley Mall near Wilkes-Barre.
The nurses headed to Geisinger Risant’s Corporate Headquarters in Danville.
They tell 28/22 News they want to take their fight directly to management to protest salary and working conditions which they say are at the root of their ongoing contract dispute.
“Through the negotiations, you know, a lot of questions that we’ve had, we’ve asked for clarification, we’ve asked to try to get closer together on what we’re asking for, and we just keep being told that it’s out of their hands. It’s up to corporate. So we’re going to corporate,” explained RN Lynn Fino.
Nurses at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, South Wilkes-Barre, and Center Point near Pittston say they will be back to work first thing Saturday morning.
