Bernabe Rodriquez Obituary, Death; – A man from Delray Beach was reportedly fatally shot during a confrontation at a residence in Lighthouse Point. The Broward Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the individual was killed on Wednesday evening during this incident.
Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit are currently examining the details surrounding a deadly shooting in Lighthouse Point. At approximately 5:13 p.m., officers from the Lighthouse Point Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance involving gunfire, occurring near the 2600 block of Northeast 49th Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male, later identified as Bernabe Rodriquez, who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound.
Lighthouse Point Fire Rescue was also dispatched to the scene and transported Rodriquez to Broward Health North for medical attention, where he was subsequently pronounced dead. At the request of the Lighthouse Point Police Department, detectives from BSO’s Crime Scene and Homicide Units are investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
Investigators have indicated that the individual who discharged the firearm remained at the scene, was taken into custody for questioning, and was later released. Once the investigation is concluded, the findings will be forwarded to the Broward County State Attorney’s Office for evaluation. The Lighthouse Point Police Department has stated that they have not received any prior calls for service at the location concerning either the victim or the alleged shooter.
As of Friday afternoon, the BSO has not disclosed the identity of the alleged shooter, and no charges have been filed.
