Early Thursday morning, around 6:30 a.m., Islip town garbage collectors, while on their regular route, discovered the body of a male lying on the driveway outside 4 Parsons Landing. The driver, trained in CPR, checked for signs of life but determined the individual was beyond help and immediately called 911. Authorities later identified the man as William Clifford.
Upon responding, officers from the 3rd Precinct discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound and a firearm at his feet outside the home. Inside, they found the body of Eileen Clifford, who had also succumbed to a gunshot wound.
William and Eileen Clifford, longtime residents of Islip, will be remembered for their quiet and loving life together. Their untimely passing has left a profound sense of loss in the community. The investigation is ongoing.
