(WBRE/WYOU)— The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has implemented speed limit restrictions across three interstates in our area due to winter weather in our area.
PennDOT is temporarily reducing the speed limit to 45 mph and restricting commercial vehicles to the right lane on the following interstates:
- Interstate 81 from Dunmore to the New York line in Lackawanna and Susquehanna counties.
- Interstate 84 in Lackawanna, Pike, and Wayne counties.
- Interstate 380 in Lackawanna and Wayne counties.
The purpose of the restriction is to help ensure the interstates remain open during the most challenging conditions of the winter storm.
When conditions improve, PennDOT says they will remove the travel restrictions.
