Rodrigo Torrijos-Perez,Rita Faye Edwards Obituary, Death; – Two individuals lost their lives in separate traffic accidents on Wednesday in Jefferson County.
The first incident occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. when Rodrigo Torrijos-Perez, a 19-year-old resident of Hoover, was driving on 9th Avenue North at 22nd Street in Bessemer. He was involved in a collision with another vehicle, as reported by the coroner’s office. Torrijos-Perez was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:01 a.m. The Bessemer Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into this accident.
The second incident took place a few hours later in Pinson, according to the coroner. At 10:35 a.m., a 75-year-old woman from Birmingham was driving on Highway 151 at Pinson Boulevard when her vehicle collided with another. She was also taken to UAB Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries at 11:13 a.m. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is looking into the details surrounding this crash.
Neither of the vehicles involved in these incidents had any passengers.
