SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A new dog park is coming to Scranton. It was approved on Tuesday at the Scranton City Council Meeting.
The park will be located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Albright Avenue and Marion Street.
The council says the city is getting the land from UGI.
One councilman says this will be a nice addition to the city for a property that would otherwise be sitting vacant.
“I think it’s just a piece of property that is really no other use for it. I believe it’s about 100 by 200 and it’s at the end of a huge development, so to leave it would be more of an eye sore than if it’s used for something else,” said Scranton City Council President Gerald Smurl.
There is no word on when the dog park will be open.
