A tragic crash on Interstate 5 in Cowlitz County claimed the life of a young woman on Monday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The incident occurred at 10:45 p.m. near milepost 44 on I-5. WSP reported that a northbound 2005 Toyota 4Runner was speeding when it veered off the roadway and crashed into trees.
The driver, 18-year-old Breauna L. Vaughn from Eagle Creek, died at the scene. Authorities confirmed she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
WSP stated that drugs or alcohol were not involved in the incident, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

In a separate case, Breauna Vaughn was also the subject of a frantic search after disappearing in frigid conditions without a coat, phone, money, or medications.
A missing person poster revealed she was last seen on Thursday in the Estacada-Eagle Creek area near Portland, wearing a black hat, white hoodie, black vest, and dark jeans.
The poster indicated she was seen getting into an unknown vehicle, with a plea for people to check their home surveillance footage for possible sightings.
