TYLER, Texas (KETK) – “A little East Texas kid is considered one of the best, if not the best quarterback,” Jim Jackson said.
Sports photographer, Jim Jackson has watched Whitehouse native, Patrick Mahomes play since he was a kid.
“This was in high school, you just knew that he was going to somehow he was going to get the ball in the end zone, whether it was passing or running it,” Jackson said.
Throughout the years, Jackson’s collection grew and he acquired special pieces, like a signed rookie card.
“I have his autograph on a football which is kind of neat,” Jackson said.
His collection includes, hundreds of football cards, action figures and even a Patrick-themed Christmas tree.
The tree goes up at the beginning of the season and it gets taken down at their last game.
“One time this year they were losing and someone called me and asked me if the tree was lit and I said no its not lit, so I plugged it in and they won the game,” Jackson said.
Now, Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are on the path to make history. He could do the impossible and win a third Superbowl in a row.
“Everybody on TV says it can’t happen. There’s just no way he can do it and there’s, so many people that bet against Patrick and it blows us away,” Jackson said.
Jackson said he makes it a goal to fly to at least one game a season.
“When we run into people and they find out we’re from Whitehouse, Texas, we’re kind of like celebrities. It’s kind of weird, but they all tell us the same thing, they’re so proud of Patrick,” Jackson said.
Jackson’s score prediction is a close one, 25-24 Chiefs.
