According to the warrants, Haskins “feloniously did photograph, record material containing visual representation(s)” of young girls between the ages of 8 and 14 performing sexual acts.
Haskins is scheduled to be in court again on Feb. 20.
Haskins is an instructor with Infant Swimming Resource, which provides “survival swimming lessons for infants and young children,” according to its website.
A mother, who says her child was taught by Haskins and wished to not be identified by name or voice, provided the following statement to FOX8 in response to Haskins’ arrest:
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my shock and concern regarding the recent allegations surrounding swim instructor Ryen. As a parent who entrusted my children to Ryen’s swim program for several years, I feel compelled to share my experience and the collective response from our local community.
We first found Ryen when my oldest child was just 18 months old, and he continued lessons until they were five. When my second child was old enough, they started as well. The program allowed children to begin lessons as early as six months old, provided they could sit unassisted. Throughout our time with Ryen, we never saw any red flags and are completely shocked by the recent revelations. Thankfully, our children were always monitored throughout their sessions, which were only 10 minutes long.
During the COVID shutdown, we followed Ryen to multiple locations, eventually settling at High Point Swim Club when a new permanent location was secured. We never personally had any issues, and our children are now strong, capable swimmers thanks to these lessons.
However, the reaction within our community has been overwhelming. Local Kernersville mom groups have been actively discussing the situation, yet posts are quickly being taken down, leaving many parents feeling silenced. Moms are outraged, confused, and demanding answers.
While our personal experience was positive, the nature of the allegations is deeply troubling. Parents in our community deserve transparency and accountability regarding what has come to light. I urge your newsroom to investigate this further and ensure that the voices of concerned families are heard.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. Please feel free to reach out if further details are needed.
