TYLER, Texas (KETK) — Former TJC standout Jimmy Butler has been traded from the Miami Heat to the Golden State Warriors.
Butler attended TJC in the fall of 2007 and averaged nearly 19 points a game, seven rebounds for the team during his freshman year. After a successful year at TJC, Butler was recruited by Marquette University, where he spent two seasons before being drafted in the 2011 draft by the Chicago Bulls.
Butler’s departure from Miami was long awaited after the relationship between Butler and organization has been in turmoil for more than a month, which has led to Butler being suspended from the team three times.
In return for Butler, the Heat will be receiving former Rookie of the Year winner Andrew Wiggins, as well as veteran forward Kyle Anderson.
Shortly after the trade, it was reported that Butler had agreed to two-year extension worth $121 million which will keep Butler in Golden State until at least 2027.
The Warriors will be the fifth NBA team that Butler will be a part of. It is likely that Butler who is now 35, will be ending his career with Golden State.
