Today, we gather in remembrance and celebration of the life of Vince Andrews, a beloved TFA Baltimore alumnus from the Class of 2011. Vince was a man whose impact on his community and his commitment to service have left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His life was a testament to his unwavering dedication to justice, education, and public service.
Vince’s work extended far beyond his profession, shaping the lives of countless individuals in Baltimore and beyond. After graduating from Teach For America, he went on to become a teacher with City Schools, where he inspired and empowered young minds. His passion for education was matched only by his passion for justice and advocacy. Vince later transitioned into a career as a public defender, where he worked tirelessly to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their background, had fair and just representation.
But Vince’s dedication didn’t stop at his professional work. He also served his community in various other ways, from his role on the community association to his efforts in public health law. As a public health lawyer, Vince helped navigate the complex issues of public health policy, making a difference in the lives of many through his work in legal advocacy and reform.
A man of vision, Vince also ran for State Delegate, where he campaigned on issues important to his community and advocated for the needs of the people. His desire to make a difference was evident in every role he took on. Whether in the courtroom, at a community meeting, or fighting for public health reforms, Vince remained a dedicated servant to the people around him.
At home, Vince was a loving husband and father. He created a warm, welcoming environment for his family and a community of friends in Maryland who admired him not only for his work but for his personal kindness, compassion, and integrity. Vince’s love for his family was evident to all who knew him. He was the type of man who could be counted on, whether for advice, support, or a simple act of kindness.
Sadly, Vince has passed away, leaving a void that will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and the many communities he served. He was a bright light in Baltimore, a pillar of support, and a true example of how one person’s dedication can change the lives of so many.
To honor Vince’s life and legacy, a memorial service will be held on Friday, February 7, from 4-6 pm at 901 S Bond Street, Unit 400, Baltimore, MD 21231. This will be an opportunity for those who knew Vince to come together, share memories, and celebrate the incredible contributions he made to his community and the world. All who were touched by his presence are encouraged to attend and pay tribute to a life well lived.
As we reflect on Vince’s life, we remember a man who gave tirelessly of himself, who believed in justice, and who worked every day to make his community a better place. His legacy will live on in the work he did, the lives he touched, and the people he inspired.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to Vince’s family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. May his memory continue to guide us, and may we honor his life by carrying forward the work he began in his lifetime.
Rest in peace, Vince. You will be missed, but your legacy will never be forgotten.
