Vernon S Lee II Obituary, Death;- A man from central Virginia lost his life on Tuesday afternoon due to a collision on Interstate 95 in northern Virginia, according to state police.
Vernon S. Lee II, 57, from Chester, was fatally injured when his vehicle was struck by a pickup truck shortly after 2:30 p.m. while he was stopped on the right shoulder of the southbound express lanes near the Triangle interchange. The impact caused his car to collide with the guardrail and subsequently return to the travel lanes, facing oncoming traffic.
Lee was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 25-year-old Shannon S. Lee, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. State police confirmed that she was also wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the pickup truck, 43-year-old Jeremy S. Kubela from Fredericksburg, did not suffer any injuries. He has been charged with reckless driving by state police. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
