STANLY COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A popular Stanly County seafood restaurant is back open more than a year after it was destroyed by a large fire.
Fans of Jay’s Seafood in Albemarle wrote on social media this weekend that the restaurant opened late last week and has been packed ever since.
According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, it reopened on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 4 p.m.
On Jan. 2, 2024, a four-alarm fire tore down the building. Fire crews used tanks to bring in 1,000 gallons of water from half a mile away, dumping it into tubs used to pump water through hoses and onto the fire because there are no fire hydrants in this part of Stanly County.
Jay’s Seafood is owned by four generations of the Stallings family and has been in the same spot since 1967.
