Morrilton High School is grieving the loss of student-athlete CJ Clemons, who tragically lost his life in a car accident.
South Conway County School District Superintendent Shawn Halbrook confirmed Clemons’ passing, though the exact date was not disclosed.
Clemons was a junior at Morrilton High School and a valued member of the varsity basketball team, the Devil Dogs.
A social media tribute described Clemons as having an infectious smile and unwavering determination, serving as a role model for his peers.
Halbrook emphasized the district’s dedication to supporting students and staff during this difficult time. Counseling services will be available on campus, and students are encouraged to seek support from teachers, counselors, and administrators.
CJ Clemons played guard for the Morrilton Devil Dogs and wore the #3 jersey.
His death was confirmed by the South Conway County School District in a social media post.
The district released a statement saying, “Our hearts go out to the student’s family, friends, and all those affected by this tragic loss.”
The Devil Dogs faced the Pulaski Academy Bruins on Tuesday night. With six seconds remaining, Isaiah Templeton of Morrilton made a layup that won the game, tying the score.
The Devil Dogs formed a circle and prayed after the game. “Keep CJ in your prayers.”
Anyone in need can now access counseling services on campus through the district.
The PA Bruins were defeated 57-55 by the Morrilton Devil Dogs.
