The family of a 15-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed at school has shared their devastation. Harvey Willgoose lost his life following an incident at All Saints Catholic High School in Sheffield on Monday. His sister, Sophie, expressed her grief, saying her heart had been “shattered into a million pieces.”
South Yorkshire Police confirmed that a 15-year-old boy, arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in custody. In a heartfelt Facebook post accompanied by photos of her brother, Sophie wrote: “I love you so much, Harvey. Hug your loved ones a little tighter tonight—I wish I could.”
Harvey’s mother, Caroline, also shared her sorrow with her 56,000 TikTok followers.
In one post, she wrote, “Our Harvey, no words,” alongside broken heart emojis and a montage of their memories together. Another read: “My Harvey, life will never be the same. Love you so much.” On Tuesday, shocked parents and students continued to leave flowers and messages outside the school’s closed gates.
The school was shut down on Monday afternoon following the attack, which occurred at approximately 12:17 GMT. Parents rushed to the school as police cordoned off part of the road, and a lockdown was implemented.
Katie, a parent, described the agonizing wait for her 13-year-old daughter, Gracie.”It was the worst two and a half hours of my life,” she said. “She couldn’t use her phone, and I couldn’t reach her directly—I had to rely on updates from her teacher. They reassured me she was safe and calm, but I needed to hear her voice myself.”
Tributes left at the school gates described Harvey as “the life of the party” who “brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew him. “One message read: “Harvey, my ‘pal,’ gone too soon but never forgotten. Rest in peace. Bailey and the RE department.” Parent Luisa Meco, whose daughter had known Harvey since nursery, said his death had left the community in shock. “You never expect something like this to happen when your child goes to school,” she said. “It’s heartbreaking, and we just don’t understand how it happened.”
Ms. Meco said the school planned to reopen on Thursday, but she was apprehensive about her daughter’s return. “We’ll see how she feels. Her well-being comes first, not just what the school decides,” she said.
