TYLER,Texas (KETK) – After months of anticipation, the UT Tyler baseball team will be opening up their season on Friday afternoon. The team will be on the road as they face off against Lubbock Christian in a weekend series that includes a doubleheader on Saturday.
UT Tyler is coming off of a solid 2024 season where they finished their regular season with a 29-23 record before losing to UT Permian Basin in the Lone Star Conference Tournament. Going into the 2025 season, polls have raised expectations for the program.
In the LSC preseason poll, UT Tyler was ranked fourth going into the season. Additionally the team was ranked 16 in the ABCA Division II Preseason Coaches Poll, which is the highest the Patriots have been ranked since 2021 when they were ranked 11.
Alongside UT Tyler’s team recognitions, one of their starting pitchers, Rawley Hector was named the LSC Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Rawley, who is currently a senior at UT Tyler, is coming off of a stellar 2024 season where he finished the year with a 2.95 ERA through 13 games.
UT Tyler will have their home opener next Friday, Feb. 7 against Angelo State.
