CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One of the defendants apart of the group known as the “Cabo Six” denies allegations made in the Shanquella Robinson wrongful death lawsuit, according to a letter filed on Jan. 27.
According to the filing, the defendant states that the facts alleged in the lawsuit don’t state specific information to hold the defendant accountable for the death of Robinson. The defendant adds that the claims made are “vague, conclusory, or speculative statements” and do not have the required legal elements such as causation, intent, or damages.
The defendant along with five others traveled to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to take a vacation. Shortly after the “Cabo Six” arrived, Shanquella was pronounced dead by medical personnel on October 29, 2022. The defendant states that the lawsuit doesn’t prove that he caused Shanquella any harm.
This filing comes days after the State Department and FBI filed a motion to dismiss the wrongful death lawsuit. The federal agencies also stated that the plaintiff in the case lacked “jurisdiction over their claims”.
Almost three years later, no one has been charged in the death of Shanquella. An arrest warrant was issued for one of the Cabo Six, however, the State Department never forwarded the request to the International Affairs office so they were never extradited.
