FORT MILL, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The busiest traffic area between Charlotte and Fort Mill is about to get even busier.
According to a notice from the town of Tega Cay, United Blythe Joint Venture, the company building the new interchange, is switching the traffic pattern for Phase 2 of the project starting the night of Jan. 26.
The project includes the addition of travel and turn lanes on an approximately 1.5-mile section of SC 160 to improve the safety and flow of traffic through the interchange.
- Sunday night 1/26 – I-77 SB Phase 2 Traffic Shift (moving traffic to the outside shoulder of I-77)
- Monday night 1/27 – Traffic shift onto the New I-77 Northbound on-ramp
- Tuesday night 1/28 – I-77 NB Phase 2 Traffic Shift (moving traffic to the outside shoulder of I-77)
- Tuesday night 1/28 thru Friday night 1/31 – Installation of Median Temporary Concrete Barrier Wall on I-77
Officials warn drivers to be prepared for lane closures and changing traffic patterns on I-77 and at the interchange with SC 160 as construction gets underway.
The project is scheduled to be completed in November of 2027.
