TYLER, Texas (KETK)- After a narrow victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday evening, East Texas native Patrick Mahomes clinched his fifth trip to the Super Bowl in his career.
Mahomes is now on the verge of his third straight Super Bowl victory, which would make him the first quarterback in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
With Mahomes making it to his fifth Super Bowl, he joins elite company by tying Jon Elway for the second most Super Bowl appearances, only falling behind Tom Brady who finished his career with 10 appearances.
Super Bowl 59 will take place on Feb. 9 in New Orleans at 5:30 p.m. on FOX51. The Chiefs will be facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles, which will be a rematch of Super Bowl LVII from February of 2023.
