The family of 57-year-old Alice Fisher is grieving her tragic death after she was fatally shot in her apartment Wednesday night.
Relatives gathered on Friday to pack up her belongings, describing the process as both painful and surreal.
“This is just shocking,” said a family member identified only as Yolanda. “It’s just hurtful.”
According to the family, Fisher was sitting in her recliner when men in ski masks broke into her apartment and opened fire.
“It hurts. It really hurts,” said Shelton Dale, Fisher’s cousin.
The Dallas Police Department has not released any information about suspects or a possible motive. However, Fisher’s family believes the intruders targeted the wrong apartment and were looking for someone else.
Fisher, who used a wheelchair and had recently returned home from the hospital, was described as a kind and loving woman who didn’t deserve such violence.
“You shouldn’t feel like you’re the man,” said her niece. “You killed an innocent, disabled woman who did no harm. She took nothing from you.”
“They did her wrong,” added Dale. “But God will take care of it. What’s done in the dark comes to light.”
The shooting took place at Kingbridge Crossing, a Dallas Housing Authority property, where security concerns have been raised. The family said the suspects entered through unsecured gates, an issue WFAA also observed during their visit Friday afternoon.
“We’re trying to stay strong, support one another, and cherish her memory,” said Koquice, another relative. GoFundMe
