CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — The Charlotte Hornets confirmed what was expected by many regarding Brandon Miller‘s injury. The team announced Thursday that the second-year wing is out for the season.
Miller sustained a wrist injury during the Hornets’ win at Utah Jan. 15, and two days later it was announced the scapholunate ligament was torn in his right wrist. He then underwent surgery Thursday performed by Dr. Michelle Carlson at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
The news continues a frustrating theme the Hornets (11-29) have experienced in recent years. Other key players like guard LaMelo Ball, center Mark Williams and — before being traded last February — Gordon Hayward all have missed significant time.
After an All-Rookie campaign last year, Miller is out injured for the third time this season. He was scoring 21 points per game in 27 games, while averaging 4.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists.
He most recently missed six games with an ankle injury from mid-December into January.
Forward Grant Williams also is out indefinitely after a knee injury that occurred Nov. 23.
